FridgeFlip ("we", "us") is a free recipe web app. This policy explains, in plain English, what happens to your information when you use fridgeflip.app and the FridgeFlip app at fridgeflip.app/app/.
The short version
We don't ask you to create an account and we don't sell your data. Your ingredients, allergies, cuisine choices, unit setting and shopping list are stored only in your browser (local storage) on your device.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your ingredient list, shopping list, allergy and dietary selections, cuisine preferences and unit preference in your browser's local storage so they're there next time. We don't receive this data. You can delete it anytime by clearing your browser's site data for fridgeflip.app.
Photos and barcodes
If you take or upload a photo, it is shown only on your device. The current version does not upload photos anywhere. If we add automatic photo recognition later, we'll update this policy and tell you in the app before any photo is sent to a service. Barcodes you scan or type are sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product.
Third-party services we use
- TheMealDB (themealdb.com): your ingredient names are sent to it to find recipes.
- Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org): barcodes and food search terms are sent to it to look up products. Search requests pass through our host.
- Netlify (our host) may log standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and operations.
- Delivery and retail partners (Instacart, Walmart, DoorDash, Uber Eats): when you tap a delivery button, you leave FridgeFlip and go to that partner's site with your item names in the link. Their privacy policies apply there. These links may include affiliate tracking; see our Affiliate Disclosure.
These services receive your IP address when your browser contacts them, and they have their own privacy policies.
Cookies and analytics
FridgeFlip itself doesn't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. Partner sites you visit may set their own cookies.
Children
FridgeFlip is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Wine pairing suggestions are intended for adults of legal drinking age (21+ in the US).
Your choices
You can use FridgeFlip without giving us any personal information. Clear your browser data to remove everything stored locally. If you email us, we'll use your email only to reply.
Changes
We may update this policy as FridgeFlip grows. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, post a notice in the app.
